The University of Arkansas two undergraduate students, Alaina Edwards (B.S. in Mathematical Sciences) and John McGarigal (B.S. in Mechanical Engineering) are selected to the 2018-2019 Blue Waters Student Interns Program to work with Dr. Kaman in a year-long project.

The goal is to engage U of A undergraduate students in petascale computing research and development project on “Efficient Use of High Performance Computing Resources for Optimized Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations” under the direction of Dr. Kaman. The interns are going to participate two-week intensive Petascale Institute at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (May 21 – June 1, 2018) to learn the basics of high-performance computing.

Blue Waters is one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, capable of performing quadrillions of calculations every second to tackle challenges in astrophysics, chemistry, biology and biomedicine, atmospheric science, and many other fields of research.
